The Clown
by Bryan Stillman
I put on my Clown Makeup.
I went out the front door.
I strolled down the street towards the Fillmore.
When I reached La Boulange, I went in
And ordered a pain au chocolate and café au lait.
That was the beginning.
My mouth was red and brown and frothy.
My mouth was red and brown and frothy.
From there I went to Los Angeles, Seattle,
Boulder, Dallas, Chicago, New Orleans,
New York and Boston.
In each city I rented a hotel room.
Each day I would put on my Clown makeup
And spend a couple of hours just walking,
Speaking to no one.
Finally, after rehearsal was over,
I went to Paris.
